The 8 Best Wireless Mechanical Keyboards (For 2023)

Do you know what STINKS?

Wires everywhere. Cables & Cords.

Desktop clutter.

*gasps

A wireless keyboard is definitely the way to go if you’re looking for more flexibility for your work (or gaming).

Plus, USB slots are valuable! 😎

But as always, which keyboard you get will depend on the FEATURES you’re looking for!

Let’s dive into the details so you can find a great wireless ‘mech that works for you πŸ˜‰

The Best Wireless Mechanical Keyboards for 2023:

I’ve broken these out by category to help you find what you’re looking for!

And just BELOW the ‘best of’ list, there’s a handy buying guide for what features you should be looking for.

Don’t miss that!

Best for Mac: Keychron K2

Keychron K2 75% Layout 84 Keys Hot-swappable Bluetooth Wireless/USB Wired Mechanical Keyboard for Mac with Gateron...
  • Keychron K2, a 75% layout 84 keys hot-swappable white LED backlight wireless mechanical keyboard giving you all the keys and function you need while keeping it compact. And let you personalize per-key...
  • With a unique Mac layout while compatible with Windows, the Keychron K2 has all essential multimedia and function keys you need. Extra keycaps for both Windows and Mac operating systems are included.
  • Connects with up to 3 devices via the reliable Broadcom Bluetooth 5.1 chipset and switch among them easily for multitasking needs. The K2 is best to fit home, office and light gaming use while...

PROS βœ…

  • Under $100
  • Works GREAT with both Mac and Windows, and includes a handy physical toggle switch on the keyboard
  • Plenty of switch options
  • Pairs with multiple (3) devices, and it’s super easy to switch between them.
  • Keychron is VERY high quality
  • Different sizes available

CONS ❌

  • Very high profile
  • No super fancy features

Frankly, the Keychron K2 gets our “best overall” mechanical keyboard nod.

Keychron makes a TON of different sizes and layouts, 90% of which are wireless, hot-swappable, and built well.

The K2 is a 75% TKL keyboard (meaning it doesn’t have the numpad, but still has dedicated arrow keys and a function row), which means you still get lots of keys, but also saves some desk space and looks great.

Keychron keyboards can work either wired or wireless (they also charge with a standard USB-C which comes with the keyboard), and there are physical toggles on the keyboard case to switch between wired and wireless, as well as Windows and Mac layouts.

my Keychron K7
My Keychron K7 (discussed below) with the toggle switches

This feature is HANDY.

The Keychron K2 also has an aluminum frame and comes with plenty of switch options.

Here’s my keychron K2 with Gateron Blue (clicky switches! They have linear and tactile available too of course).

The only downside I can think of is the keyboard height. This has never bothered me, personally, but I have large hands. You might consider getting a wrist rest if you experience finger pain!

Overall, the Keychron K2 might be the perfect wireless mechanical keyboard of all time. You won’t be disappointed.

PRO TIP: A brief guide to switch colors & types:

mechanical switches

Click here to read our full guide to mechanical switch colors, but here’s the gist:

Keyboard switches are the physical mechanism underneath each key cap for mechanical keyboards, and they come in three broad types:

  • Linear switches: these are generally quieter and feel smooth
  • Tactile switches: slightly louder, tactile switches feature a tiny bump during the key press that helps your fingers feel when the key has been activated!
  • Clicky switches: louder still, clicky switches are just tactile switches, but with an added click noise (that some people find annoying)

Best for Gaming: Razer BlackWidow V3 Wireless

Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Yellow Switches, Chroma RGB, Doubleshot Keycaps,...
  • 3 Modes of Connection: HyperSpeed Wireless for lag-free performance when gaming, Bluetooth for efficient power consumption with ability to connect up to 3 devices, and detachable USB-C for charging...
  • Razer Yellow Mechanical Switches: Built for speed with an actuation point of just 1.2mm, these smooth switches have no tactile feedback and include sound dampeners to reduce its already low sound...
  • Brighter Than Ever Transparent Switch Housing: A completely clear design allows for intense lighting for better immersion in integrated games and lighting setups

PROS βœ…

  • Expensive, but not terrible for the fancy gaming keyboards!
  • Fancier gaming features (macros, programmable, Chroma RGB, etc)
  • Razer switches aren’t terrible
  • Media keys and volume knob!
  • Wired, Bluetooth, OR HyperSpeed wireless

CONS ❌

  • Expensive (though they sell “renewed” versions for less on Amazon!)
  • Some people don’t like Razer switches
  • Not hot-swappable

Even though Razer is one of the “big box brands” in the mechanical keyboard world, that doesn’t mean their keyboards aren’t quality!

The Black Widow V3 keyboard is one of the high-end mechanical keyboards from Razer, and one of the only keyboards they make that is truly wireless.

The coolest thing about the black widow is the different wireless options:

  • You can go wired (which is super fast and charges the keyboard, obviously)
  • You can use Bluetooth, which is the standard and is the most battery-saving way to connect
  • You can use HyperSpeed wireless for low-latency gaming, etc!

HyperSpeed wireless is supposedly 3x faster than normal Bluetooth (but let’s be honest, it’s rarely noticeable). But if you’re looking for a serious edge, every millisecond counts!

They also make a Black Widow V3 in a mini, compact size (see below for more of those), and they have both linear (yellow switches) and clicky (green switches) to choose from.

It is a bit pricey, but well worth it if you’re a serious gamer who wants the best.

Runner-Up Wireless for Gaming: SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini

SteelSeries is another gaming brand with a great reputation, and their keyboards don’t disappoint either!

They make the Apex pro mini in both wired and wireless versions, but the wireless version is way more expensive.

This keyboard is called “the world’s fastest keyboard,” mostly due to the fact that you can customize the actuation force!

The “Omnipoint” switches allow you to dial in the resistance needed to activate each key (called “actuation force”), which can be really handy for switching between gaming (where you’ll lower the actuation force to be faster) and typing (where it might be more comfortable with higher resistance).

Cool!

Best Budget: Redragon K628 Pro

PROS βœ…

  • Dirt cheap but still made well
  • Different color options!
  • Bluetooth OR 2.4ghz dongle connections
  • It’s hot-swappable

CONS ❌

  • No fancier features
  • No switch options
  • Stabilizers are a bit rattly

There are a TON of mechanical keyboards under $50 these days, some of which are fantastic!

But it’s tough to find a wireless option in that price range–outside of the Redragon K628!

My favorite thing about the K628?

It’s hot-swappable, meaning you can easily remove the switches without desoldering (with a keycap puller), and install whatever switches you want!

This is a huge feature for such a budget keyboard (and a “must-have” since the default switch options are VERY limited).

hotswap keyboards make changing switches easy!

The Redragon K628 also uses Bluetooth or a USB dongle (which is handy if you want to limit Bluetooth connections).

There’s only 1 obvious downside for this budget keyboard: it doesn’t feel premium.

The stabilizers underneath the larger keys (space bar, enter, and shift keys) feels a bit scratchy and rattly.

This isn’t a huge deal if you’re a beginner, but if you’re used to typing on a premium keyboard (with lubed stabilizers), it’s going to feel cheaper.

Click here to learn more about modding your keyboard (including stabilizers).

Best Compact: Anne Pro 2

ANNE PRO 2D, 60% Wired/Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (Gateron Brown Switch/White Case) - Full Keys Programmable -...
  • Minimalistic design doing more with less. Requires less hand movement while still being able to access all the functionalities.
  • Compact and Portable . It saves desk space and easy to carry around. Fits right in backpack. Perfect for home, work and on the go.
  • Decent bluetooth connectivity enables wireless connection up to 4 devices and switch seamlessly back and forth.

PROS βœ…

  • Very affordable
  • Travel friendly with a great design (including multiple case colors)
  • Plenty of switch options
  • A community favorite

CONS ❌

  • Not hot-swappable
  • The 60% keyboard size isn’t for everybody

The Anne Pro 2 is probably one of the top-selling mechanical keyboards of all time, and for good reason: It’s the perfect budget keyboard.

It’s not too cheap, so it has all the great features, but it’s fitted with a plastic frame and comes stock with Gateron or Kailh switches (all fantastic “Cherry MX clone” budget switches).

In terms of keyboard size, a compact 60% layout is just about the smallest a non-enthusiasts should probably go (they do make 40% keyboards though).

If you don’t mind learning the keyboard shortcuts, which you’ll need for arrow keys, function keys, etc, then the Anne Pro 2 is a GREAT option that saves desk space.

It’s a mechanical keyboard community favorite for a reason: It’s affordable, sounds and feels great, and is wireless πŸ‘

Runner-Up Travel Keyboard: Keychron K7

The Keychron K7 is another compact 60% layout, but it’s also a low-profile keyboard!

This makes it absolutely amazing for travel (I bought a leather pouch for my K7, and it’s my go-to travel keyboard!).

It offers Gateron low-profile switches, as well as low-profile key caps. And of course, the wireless connectivity is fantastic.

Best for Programming: Logitech G915

On Sale

  • LIGHTSPEED wireless delivers pro-grade performance with flexibility and freedom from cords. Creates a clean aesthetic for battlestations. Delivers 40 hours on a single full charge.
  • LIGHTSYNC technology provides RGB lighting that synchronizes lighting with any content. Personalize each key or create custom animations from ~16.8M colors with Logitech G HUB software.
  • Low Profile mechanical switches offers the speed, accuracy and performance of a mechanical switch at half the height The GL Tactile switch produces a discernible bump at the point of actuation. Comes...

PROS βœ…

  • An INSANE amount of features
  • Lots of switch options
  • Scroll wheel & media keys
  • Low-profile
  • Advanced wireless & Bluetooth

CONS ❌

  • Expensive
  • Not hot-swappable

The Logitech G915 Lightspeed ALMOST got our “best overall wireless” recommendation, but there were only two things holding it back:

  • The price. It’s expensive
  • Lack of Cherry MX switch options, and it’s not hot-swappable.

You can get the G915 with clicky, tactile, or linear switches, but their Logitech’s G Switches (which are just ‘ok’ in my opinion).

The good news?

The G915 is the perfect wireless keyboard in every other way. Seriously. SO MANY features!

You can use Bluetooth OR an “advanced wireless” connection (similar to the Razer above).

They make the G915 in 80% TKL size, or in full-size with the numpad!

As a part-time developer myself (full stack!), I’ll also mention that it’s one of the most comfortable keyboards I’ve every typed on.

The low-profile is fantastic, and the tactile switches I have just feel good. Especially for a “non-custom” mechanical keyboard. It feels solid right out of the box, and is perfect for work!

Best for Office: Razer Pro Type Ultra

  • Maximum Productivity. Minimum Sound: The silent mechanical switches and sound dampening foam on this keyboard offer a quiet, distraction-free experience when at the office or WFH, while its super...
  • Comfort with Every Keystroke: This ergonomically designed keyboard is high on comfort and features keycaps lined with a fingerprint-resistant, soft-touch coatingβ€”for a luxurious, cushioned feel that...
  • Superior Ergonomic Support: The soft, cushioned wrist support perfectly aligns to the keyboard to relieve wrist pressure, providing superior comfort and less strain over long periods of typing

PROS βœ…

  • Silent switch options
  • Optionally comes with a mouse combo!
  • Professional-looking (in case you need that)
  • HyperSpeed Wireless
  • Comes with a matching wrist rest
  • Pairs with up to 4 devices

CONS ❌

  • Expensive
  • A slightly more “mushy” feel

Usually when you think “Razer,” you think “gaming keyboard.”

But the Pro Type Ultra is a professional-looking keyboard that has all the best Razer features, and also has silent switches that are perfect for the office.

Silent switches are the best of both worlds:

You get a mechanical sound, although it’s more muted of course, as well as the classic mechanical keyboard field.

That, and there’s the super-fast HyperSpeed technology again, as well as fully programmable keys & “smart controls,” which allows you to record custom macros, etc, right from the keyboard!

It’s a ton of keyboard packed with an office-friendly foam-dampened sound.

Your coworkers will be jealous, not annoyed.

Best Keyboard and Mouse Combo: Logitech G613

  • Programmable G-Keys: 6 dedicated G-keys can be programmed with custom macros and in-app commands. Execute complex actions, simply and quickly, with a keystroke. G-keys can be assigned per game or app...

PROS βœ…

  • Comes with mouse AND a 4-port USB hub(!)
  • Keyboard and mouse both have LightSpeed wireless tech

CONS ❌

  • Not the most premium feeling keyboard
  • No switch options

If you want a one-stop shop for a desk & computer upgrade, the Logitech G613 can either be bought separately OR with a nice mouse & USB hub combo!

The Logitech G305 is a wireless mouse with all the best Logitech features:

  • Satisfying scroll wheel
  • Easy to customize via Logitech software
  • 2 thumb buttons
  • FAST response time via LightSpeed wireless connection

In my opinion, Logitech makes the best computer mice on the market. They’re consistent and the Logi Options software for customization is the best around.

But even then, the G613 keyboard is great in it’s own right!

  • Programmable keys on the left side of the keyboard
  • Romer-G tactile switches (no switch options, but these are the best that Logitech makes really)
  • Media keys
  • Fast LightSpeed connection

Plus, USB hubs are essential these days, and this package comes with one!

  • β–Ό RGB LED Backlit and PBT Double Shot Keycaps: OEM profile Doubleshot PBT keycaps allow your keyboard to shine brighter with built-in RGB LED backlit lighting modes or you can set up customized...

PROS βœ…

  • One of the only wireless split keyboards in the world
  • A 75% TKL keyboard split (very rare)
  • Cheaper than many split keyboards
  • Genuine Cherry MX switch options!

CONS ❌

  • Expensive
  • A split keyboard isn’t for everybody
  • A newer brand

An ergonomic keyboard is one where you can position your hands & arms in a much more natural, contoured way.

This can help with wrist and finger pain, but it can also yield more comfort, accuracy and typing speed!

And while most “ergonomic keyboards” are still one keyboard (but with a contoured curved layout), the Mistel is a “split keyboard,” which means the keyboard is in two pieces connected via a separate USB wire.

This allows you to PERFECTLY position the keyboard exactly where it needs to be!

Split keyboards are quite expensive, and almost always wired. The Mistel is easily the most available wireless split keyboard on the market–AND it offers four Cherry MX switch options!

  • MX Red (linear)
  • MX Silent Red (silent linear)
  • MX Brown (tactile)
  • MX Blue (clicky)

It’s the only wireless keyboard on our list to offer Cherry MX switches right out of the box.

Plus, the design is amazing.

And while Mistel isn’t an old-school, well-known keyboard brand, I believe that matters less and less these days, since even small companies have access to established manufacturers for their keyboards.

If you want a wireless keyboard that’s highly customizable and ergonomic, the Mistel Barocco is by FAR the best choice.

Wireless Keyboard Honorable Mentions

There are a few more keyboards worth mentioning:

Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro – An optical keyboard

The DeathStalker Pro is one of the most expensive keyboards that razor makes, but it’s also probably the most featured rich mechanical keyboard ever.

Scroll wheel? 100% full size or 80% TKL sizes available?

Bluetooth 5.0? Hyperspeed Wireless?

Scroll wheel and 100% customizable?

The DeathStalker Pro has all of the above.

The problem?

At over $250, it’s just too expensive. Especially since you only have two Razer switch options. The Razer BlackWidow V3 is far more affordable and has 80% of the features.

Keychron K8 Pro

More recently, Keith Krohn has been releasing more advanced keyboards and their normal layouts. These keyboards offer higher-quality keycaps, a higher-quality build, as well as QMK/Via support.

(Via is software that makes customizing your mechanical keyboard SUPER easy, giving you complete control over EVERYTHING. It works with only the best mechanical keyboards on the market).

The Keychron K8 is also one of the ONLY wireless keyboards to offer QMK/Via support in a budget-friendly price range!

With the Gateron G Pro switch selection, you’ll be getting one of the best feeling & sounding keyboards for the price range. Wireless or not!

Royal Kludge RK84 – Another Solid Budget Wireless

It’s well under $100, wireless, AND hot-swappable.

Also, the RK84 (and the larger RK87 size) also have a detachable side panel, giving two completely different looks!

The only downside to the RK84 is the scratchy, wobbly stabilizers (similar to other budget keyboards).

But overall, I’ve been quite pleased with my Royal Kludge keyboard! (I’ve also completely modded it out).

my RK84 with custom keycaps

Wireless Keyboard Buying Guide

When shopping for a mechanical keyboard of any type, here are the things you want to keep in mind:

Battery Life5-10 years ago, wireless keyboards were WILDLY inconsistent with battery life, but that’s changed. Most wireless options use Bluetooth 5.0, and will last weeks (or MONTHS) on a single charge (depending on how much you use it). Check the product description for your keyboard. Anything over 50 hours is great (most are between 75 and 150 hours of use).
Connection TypeMost wireless keyboards use Bluetooth (4.0 or 5.0), but some might offer the ability to connect wirelessly via a 2.4ghz USB dongle (I don’t approve of the dongles! They’re inconsistent). Other fancier keyboards might also offer proprietary connections like HyperSpeed (Razer) or LightSpeed (Logitech) for low-latency connections.
Keyboard SizeChoose your keyboard size based on your needs! A 100% full-sized keyboard has the number pad, but also takes up a bunch of desk space. An 80% or 75% “TKL” keyboard chops off the number pad and is one of the most popular sizes. A 60% keyboard doesn’t have the numberpad, arrow keys, or the function row, but has “function key shortcuts” to access those keys.
Cost:Obviously, you’ll want to set a budget and stick to it
Noise:Most of the keyboards on our list can be customized to your preferred noise level, mostly through different switches (linear is softer, clicky is louder, tactile is medium).
Switch and customization options:Many of these keyboards have different switch options to choose from, as well as different case colors or even keycap colors!
Build Quality:This isn’t as much of an issue anymore, since most plastic keyboard cases are plenty sturdy (though you can find a lot of aluminum builds as well).
ErgonomicIf you work on a computer all day, it’s important to consider keyboard height, keycap height, and other ergonomic factors.
Fancier featuresDo you need RGB backlighting? Or extra media or macro keys? Volume scroll wheel? These are tougher to find on wireless keyboards, but they’re out there!

The bottom line is to pick a keyboard that both makes you happy and suits your needs.

Don’t let the YouTube influencers convince you of a particular mechanical keyboard! Choose one that looks great to you and that will work with your situation.

That’s the best part about mechanical keyboards–there’s a TON to choose from!

Wireless Keyboard F.A.Q.s

Is there a wireless mechanical keyboard?

Yes. There are dozens of different mechanical keyboard brands on the market that offer wireless connections (like Bluetooth 5.0 or via a USB dongle). You can find budget wireless mechanical keyboards on Amazon like the Keychron K2 or Redragon K628–or you can find wireless versions of the popular keyboard brands like Logitech, Razer, and SteelSeries.

Which wireless keyboard is best for laptop?

Since there are hundreds of wireless keyboards to choose from these days, we recommend first choosing whether you’d like a normal “membrane” keyboard or a fancier-but-more-expensive mechanical keyboard. You’ll want to choose a wireless keyboard based on size (do you need a number pad? Or would you like a more compact size for traveling, like the 60% size?). Our go-to wireless keyboard for laptops is the Keychron K2, which pairs well with both Mac and Windows computers, and is the perfect balance of price and features.

Why are wireless mechanical keyboards so expensive?

Wireless keyboards require upgraded internal hardware components for either Bluetooth connections or USB dongles. This hardware costs more, and is also more expensive to manufacture, which leads to a more expensive keyboard.

Is Ducky keyboard wireless?

No. All Ducky keyboards are wired-only, including the Ducky One 2 and Ducky One 3. A similar 60% keyboard that is wireless would be the Anne Pro 2.
